Karan is a General Partner at B Capital and heads early stage investments in India and South-East Asia through the Ascent Fund. He has nearly 20 years of global experience with over 13 years in technology focused venture investing. Previously, Karan was a Partner at Chiratae Ventures (formerly IDG Ventures India).  Karan has been involved on investments in leading companies including FirstCry, HealthifyMe, Xpressbees, CropIn, Mojocare and Bhanzu . He has invested in over 25 companies overall with investments ranging from $500k to $10M in sectors including ecommerce, healthcare, SaaS/B2B, fintech, logistics, mobility, ed-tech, agri-tech and gaming.

Prior to Chiratae Ventures, Karan worked with QVT Finance LP, a US based hedge fund. He earlier worked in the technology banking group at Jefferies & Company in Silicon Valley and subsequently was part of the founding team for the India office for Jefferies.  Karan was recognized as one of the 40 under 40 leaders by Business World Magazine and was also chosen one of the 40 under 40 Alternate Investment Professionals by the Indian Association of Alternative Investment Funds (IAAIF).

Karan holds a Bachelors degree in Business Administration (BBA) from the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and got his MBA from INSEAD.
