Mr. Basu co-founded the Investment Advisor in August 2008. Mr. Basu assumed the role of Chairman in December 2022 having served as Managing Partner for seven years from December 2015. He oversees the firm’s capability development, leads communications, development of networks and is called upon as the senior resource for problem solving. Mr. Basu is serving or has served on the boards of several portfolio companies of the Investment Advisor—Convexity, Matrix, Healthium Medtech, SIS, TSI, Minacs, Ujjivan and Thalappakatti Hotels. Prior to co-founding the Investment Advisor, Mr. Basu was a director with Citi Venture Capital International (“CVCI”), where he had over eight years of experience providing advisory services for investing, managing and exiting a large number of portfolio companies across a wide spectrum of industries including, among others, IT enabled services, financial services, auto, metals and mining, infrastructure, pharmaceutical and specialty chemicals, oil and gas services, media and textiles. Prior to joining CVCI, Mr. Basu had several years of corporate and investment banking experience with Citi. Mr. Basu has previously also served on the boards of several CVCI portfolio companies as a director or an observer, including Daksh, Progeon, HT Media, Jai Balaji, SVIL Mines and Globe Capital, among others. 

Mr. Basu earned an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and a B.A. degree in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University.
